365 project - week 23

Goodbye Hana Week 23 saw us leave Hana Maui and move to über touristy Lahaina.  After eating our fair share of shave ice and local grindz we will be moving upcountry to Makawao.  Looking forward to the peaceful surroundings and exploring the area. You can see all photos here. How did you spend your week?

Som Tom

Weird and gangly All over the island of Maui you will spot trees loaded with papaya. A weird and gangly looking tree capable of growing tall to reach the sun and producing large clusters of fruit, papaya grows effortlessly in the tropics. Modest fruit It is modest in flavour but has lots of hidden uses and […]

CHEESE-LESS CHEESECAKE and MACADAMIA CRUMBLE

June 6, 2014 by Nat & Tim 4 Comments

cheese-less avocado cheesecake

So much guacamole We’ve been on Maui for over a month now, taking care of our friends’ two properties, animals and fruit trees.  We’ve been dealing with a surplus of bananas and avocados.  Needless to say, we’re trying to use as much as we can but there is so much guacamole and banana bread a […]

365 project week 22

Cooking, wild pigs and moving on This week we did a lot of cooking and experimenting with avocados & bananas. We spotted a family of wild pigs in the yard and have become a bit obsessed with them.  And we’re getting ready to move to a different part of the island on Friday. You can see all photos […]

The Passport Protector

Passport denied When Patrick Dichter got in touch with us last week and told us about his product and the reason he created it, he struck a chord. A few years ago our passports went through the wash and we were afraid that we may be denied at the gate. Everything worked out for us but […]

SWEET AND SPICY MACADAMIA NUTS

June 3, 2014 by Tim 5 Comments

Enjoy our nuts If you’re like us, you might enjoy a beer or two once in a while, especially during the summer. And what goes better with a good beer than nuts? Our nuts are sweet and spicy and they go down as easily as a cold pint on a sweltering hot day. We hope you […]

How To Cope With Travel Jitters

June 2, 2014 by guest post 2 Comments

This is a sponsored post, although the views in this post are not our own, we feel strongly about #5 and #8. 1. Select a destination that’s easy for you. Though it’s tempting to choose the most off-the-beaten-path journey you can find, try to stick to relatively laid-back spots if you suffer from pre-travel nerves. […]

Spam spam spam spam – SPAM KATSU SUMMER ROLLS AND TONKATSU SAUCE

Spam

Monty Python’s Flying Circus In 1970 Monty Python’s Flying Circus immortalized Spam®, the most famous of canned meats, in a musical comedy sketch.  The Spam® song to this day is sung loud and proud all over the world at the mere mention of Spam®.  That year also marked the 2 billionth can of Spam® produced.
