Parachute Coffee or how to afford that flight to Europe {COCONUT SHAKERATO}

September 29, 2014 by Nat & Tim 6 Comments

A parcel of deliciousness

Doesn’t everyone get excited when they receive a package in the mail? Imagine our excitement when we received a parcel filled with something we just can’t do without, coffee!
We opened it up and even though it was late in the afternoon and we knew we wouldn’t sleep. We just had to try it. It’s not just us, a lot of people don’t sleep if they drink coffee in the afternoon, right?

Parachute CoffeeRejoice!

Canadian Coffee lovers rejoice! Imagine never having to leave your home again to get your hands on a delicious cup of coffee. Picture receiving your fix in the mail once a month. No more having to get dressed and drag your sorry self to the coffee shop or grocery store to get your dose. Yes, you too could be this lucky.

Parachute Coffee

We could all use a parachute once in a while

Enter Michael and Jake, two guys who had a caffeine fuelled vision of a coffee of the month club and started Parachute Coffee. Because let’s face it, we could all use a parachute once in a while. Think month clubs are lame. Sure, some of them are and you end up eating too much cheese or salami and gain a bunch of weight. This isn’t that type of club.

Michael and Jake source local small batch roasted coffee and ship it out to you the same day it’s roasted. Imagine that. For $25 a month you’ll receive enough coffee for 35 to 40 cups. Plus tasting notes and a message from the roaster.

Let’s put that into perspective, if you’re buying one single cup of coffee every day at about $2 per cup (you’re probably paying more than that), you’ll be saving $35 a month, that’s $420 a year, 3 years later you can afford a return ticket to Europe.

Parachute Coffee

September’s offering came from Pig Iron Coffee Roasters in Mississauga, the Deets sheet mentioned that the Finca Don Chepe from Costa Rica displayed notes of Oreo and raspberry. Although we didn’t quite get the raspberry, the Oreo did come through which made it perfect for a shakerato. Not familiar? Shakerato is an iced coffee enjoyed in Italy. Here’s A Cook Not Mad’s tropical shakerato for your enjoyment.

Parachute CoffeeParachute Coffee ships their small batch roasted coffees on the 1st of the month, you still have time to join and get October’s pick from Sense Appeal.

Disclosure: Food Bloggers of Canada and Parachute Coffee asked us to enjoy the coffee and then tell you about it. They didn’t suggest we drink too many cups and have a caffeine induced sleepless night.

    When I first visited Italy a few years ago, I wasn’t much into coffee and instead feasted on gelato and pasta and cheese and pizza, but now I have another reason to go back… Shakerato!

      There’s nothing like a shakerato on a hot day.

    Monthly fix via mail? sign me up – the best coffee shop in town is located in the village hospital (no kidding) 😀
