Between two trees

May 29, 2019 by Nat & Tim Leave a Comment

Perfect summer’s day

There is no image that portrays a perfect summer’s day better than a hammock stretched between two trees surrounded by lush nature. Ultimately, said hammock would be strung between two palm trees and the backdrop would be a turquoise blue sea but you make paradise where ever you can and carve out time to enjoy a long summer day as often as possible.

Epitome of relaxation

The hammock has always been the epitome of relaxation, swinging slowly in the breeze, gently nodding off with a magazine over your face, while you are supposed to be mowing the grass. Hammocks conjure up images of sailors swinging in tattered canvas hammocks hung in rows one over another or maybe others think of them as they started in the jungle, a macrame of vines and leaves tied into a bed to keep you off the ground where the creepy crawlies roam.

A Canadian company

Lately, the hammock has seen one of its best incarnations by Canadian Pouch Couch. You may have heard of the Pouch Couch, the portable lounger that you inflate by waving it around capturing air inside. The makers of the Pouch Couch have now come up with a lightweight hammock perfect for camping or just hanging out in the backyard.

Portability

Portability is the keyword weighing in at only 820 grams (1.81lbs.) with everything you need to tie it up. Packed down, it’s about the size of a travel pillow (9”x 6”x 4”). Made of durable parachute nylon, they are breathable and strong with a 500 lb capacity, all backed by their 90-day money back guarantee. At an extremely reasonable $29.99 each before shipping (currently on sale for $19.99) it’s worth grabbing more than one Camping Hammock by Pouch Couch so there is no fighting at the campground when nap time rolls around.

The perfect spot

Once you have selected the perfect spot to enjoy your Pouch Couch hammock it sets up in a couple of minutes, literally. I used a simple double surgeon’s knot with the supplied rope to tie a loop around a couple of appropriately sized trees. The handy carabiners at each end then simply clip into the loops. Adjust the height by sliding the loops up or down the trees or posts for proper ground clearance and that’s all there is to it! If you are worried about damaging the tree bring along some cardboard to protect them but properly rigged there is minimal impact.

Pouch Couch

Incredibly cool

The Pouch Couch is incredibly cool being so thin and breathable so will be perfect for those hot summer days but if you need a bit of warmth bring some insulating layers. The top edges of the hammock can actually overlap to enclose you like a banana making bug free camping a possibility.
We are giving the Pouch Couch two big thumbs up for it being easy to pack, set up and able to seize the opportunity to relax in style wherever we are.

Disclosure: The good people at Pouch Couch asked us to check out their hammock. The opinions in this post are our own.
