Why Organise Travel Insurance?

October 15, 2013 by Nat & Tim Leave a Comment

If you’re heading off on holiday this year, there are plenty of important things to remember – like your passport, hotel reservation, and your flight confirmation. And there’s one thing you most certainly mustn’t forget – travel insurance.

As any savvy holidaymaker or traveller knows, travel insurance is a vital part of going away. It’s not compulsory, but for peace of mind and financial protection, it’s a must-have. Why? Because without it, you could be left exposed to soaring medical or logistical costs should things go wrong.

For instance, without the right level of travel insurance in place, you could be left with huge medical bills if you have an accident or fall ill whilst abroad. If you trip and hurt yourself, have an accident while taking part in a sport like skiing or pick up an illness that requires medical attention, you will most likely be liable for the costs associated with your treatment. Back home, the national health services generally picks up the bill. But when you’re abroad, you will be liable for all sorts of costs which might include medical treatment, surgery, an overnight stay, a prescription, a doctor’s visit, and more.

Just think how easy it is to pick up an illness or injury. When you’re a long way from home, falling ill and being liable for the cost of medical treatment is a frightening predicament to be in. So it certainly pays to protect yourself. And the good news is, buying travel insurance doesn’t have to be an expensive procedure. Choosing a reputable brand like Thomas Cook Extras is the first step in the process – then it’s a case of choosing the right level of cover for you.

Your best bet is to get online and browse a number of reputable travel insurance suppliers. Don’t be led by cost – think more about what you plan to do on holiday, and making sure the level of cover is right for you. It’s a small price to pay for complete peace of mind.
